Fighting for Something

Elton John - My Father's Gun

My Fathers Gun - Elton John

This song is so emotionally charged and so well written. It really makes me think of the lost values of this nation; of the world. There was a time when people fought... to the death... for what they believe in. These days of self-centeredness and cowardly behavior are taking their toll. The television tells us what to believe. We are pawns. There is no more honor. Not until we get mad about what irritates us and stop settling for less... This song was about the civil war and how the man in this song, instead of giving up after his father's death, decides to take his father's gun and defend his honor. He defends his honor against those that are willing to KILL his beliefs. THAT, my people, is lost. These days, there aren't alot of true beliefs. In my opinion, most beliefs people could throw in my face are shallow. What happened? We conformed. We were in trouble and instead of taking action we ran. To the government. To our television sets to watch the news for a good idea of what to do. To everyone else. Everyone else told you to put your FAITH and TRUST in them and now, we are controlled. It would be a day that would live forever when the people realize their strength... "There's fighting there and the company needs men..."

Heroes (Brad Pitt)

Did you know Brad Pitt used to be an El Pollo Loco Chicken? Crazy right?

Well, as we all know, he is far from standing outside and waving at cars to get them to purchase tacos. Now he's worth $150,000,000 dollars on his bad days. An admirable trait of this dude is his bravery. I don't know of many people who've had the all out BALLS to live this guy's life. Growing up in Missouri and dropping out of the University of Missouri weeks before graduation aren't necessarily the images in one's head when thinking of the infamous Tyler Durden. I admire his courage, style, and perseverance. As an actor and producer, he's done wonderful and memorable work.

Need a lift?

This was the saddest, funniest thing I'd seen all season.

Poor Guy...

This is to all my people who need a boost this holiday season... Smile you all... No problem lasts forever!

Heroes (Alicia Keys)

I recently read an old article in Giant Magazine from 01/08 with Alicia Keys. I have always had a fondness for her music, acting, and, without question, her looks. She has been an inspiration for me as a musician and has shaped a large portion of what I think beauty is. Now, I get to add another piece to the puzzle that is "Alicia's Influence." Her perseverance.

In the article, she was telling the writer, Celia San Miguel, how she reached a point in her career where she was EXHAUSTED. Her creative intellect began to suffer as well as her interraction with family and friends. It was all because of constant strain on her mind. Constant strain on her body. Constantly working on different projects and tirelessly dealing with everyone all the time. The hardest part seems to be that all the exhaustion and frustration was kept underneath. Keys tells Miguel, "I started burying any feelings and it got to a point where I couldn't even tell my family or my friends, 'I'm twisted' or 'I'm exhausted,' or 'I'm so angry.'" That speaks to many who not only deal with being in the spotlight, yet, everyone who has anything going for themselves. Later in the article, she explains that she had to take her time and literally stare at the pyramids so that she could realize she could do anything. ANYTHING. Going from torn up to being on top of the charts again is the type of example that needs to be set. The type of characteristic that is associated with a role model. I take my hat off to the lovely, Alicia Keys.

808's & Heartbreak

At first, I didn't really care to hear any of this new material... It was just not on my list... Then, I heard all of Love Lockdown and I really didn't like the song (still don't). After a week or so, I heard Heartless and was completely blown away... I really liked the vibe of it and even though I was not too fond of the first single, I liked that neither of these songs had a typical subject matter. Fast forward to the albums release. I have heard the worst things imaginable about this album and I couldn't believe it.. NO ONE LIKED IT! I, being me, casually played the friend role and went along with the comments.

NOW... My thoughts on this new venture:

Kanye West has changed. College Dropout saw backpack, soul-sampled, really cool outta college Kanye. Late Registration showed a man that was getting adjusted to fame and telling his story in the limelight. Graduation, in my opinion, had a more GRADUATED feel to it. It was music for the man that was evolving... Ladies and gentlemen... He's evolved. I think that you will only like 808's and Heartbreak if you get it. You have to understand that this collection of music, done in this fashion, is Kanye West EVOLVING and trying new things. We, especially me, cry and beg for something new and groundbreaking. We always want "outside the box" but can't really take in the informal because it IS outside the box. I think autotune is, "eh... whatever," like everyone else. The thing that I think makes it acceptable in this case is that KANYE ISN'T A WONDERFUL SINGER but he sounds okay, in my opinion, with this tool. I say the album is dope. It takes balls to put this out. This isn't hip hop and definitely isn't Chi-town's finest back in 04. Give it a shot... It's something new. Welcome to 09!

Dragon Ball The Movie

I believe that almost everyone, somewhere deep down, has wanted to see a live action DBZ movie. The problem is... We don't get a DBZ movie do we? NO! We get a Dragonball movie. Not only a regular ass Dragonball movie but one that doesn't look anything like our beloved cartoon. Nostalgia cannot be compromised for style.

You be the judge!

RING IN THE NWO!!!!

DON'T DISOWN ME FOR THIS BUT...

I think that this is the begining of a crap throw. We've rolled the dice by electing Barack Obama and only 8 years of rolling and hitting the wall will tell if we hit that 7!

May the force be with us all...

I Wish I Wore Glasses

This is going to be one hell of a combination. Stik Figa, of Topeka, is a well known artist in the midwest. He teams up with Greg Enemy to create a dynamic composition entitled 'Fly Ass Glasses Remx!'

If you aren't familiar with the original Fly Ass Glasses, download Enemy's EP.

Don't Vote For This Hoe!

I guess it's too late to say this but, THIS IS NOT THE FACE OF AMERICA! It will never be. If Johnny Mac kicks the bucket, and is president of our great country, we'll have Daisy Dumbass as the president. WE CANNOT AFFORD THAT! She seems like the type of PERSON that would spend too much at a casino or go bankrupt by her own dumb acts. It's not even that she'll be a person in power that scares me, her party and administration would run everything anyway. The part that really, REALLY scares me is that she would be a person in power that other countries would have to see. Let us not forget that FOREIGN AFFAIRS is something that we need to hold dear to us. NO OTHER COUNTRY WILL TAKE SARAH FROM ALASKA SERIOUS!!!

Pick the lesser of the 4 evils.

I'm behind BARACK OBAMA! Finally!

NEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRD!!!!

THIS IS GOING TO BE MY SH*T!!!

For a Star Wars fan, a self proclaimed nerd, and an advocate for all things DORKY, I fully endorse this movie... As if you care...

Anyway, I'll bet this movie will be number one unless it comes out the same day as a Will Smith movie...

Enjoy

Craig Smith - "Music" Trailer

I, Craig Smith, am working on developing a web based show. It is a visual representation of Craig Smith the rapper and Craig Smith the photographer.

Check it out and give me some feedback...

Doug!

This show is the complete diary of an average kid. It wasn't over the top or boring. It was just enough for me.

1. Porkchop was the smartest dog in the world
2. Doug had Ms. Mayonaise in the bag... just didn't know it
3. Roger was green!

Salute to Doug Funnie. He made us laugh and made us feel sorry for him! What happened to cartoons like this?

This dude rocks. His name is Greg Enemy and he has a point to make... The point is simple. HE ROCKS! Sorry, no big guess as to who he is or what he does. With an undeniable flow and earth-shattering production, Enemy turns heads. Fly concepts, big words, and all the swag you need to satisfy your morning style craving. Take time to check out Greg Enemy's EP. It's free!

Rock N Rolla

I have to admit that when this movie began, I was skeptical. First of all, I did not realize that the feature had commenced. I was invited to the preview for this movie which was being held at a plush movie theater with a BAR! A FREAKING BAR!!! Realizing that this was not a joke and was the studio's attempt to really SELL this movie and have lots of people talking, I got my hopes up.

This movie starts off IN THE STORY! You get no warning. You're in it. No hand holding and walking you through. Every scene, something happens. Every shot is flawless. I was in awe. The skepticism comes from my AMERICAN need for a guided tour through everything before we begin. That's what lost me. However, after I broke my shell and got over my closed-mindedness, I began to anticipate the next scene.

There are no heroes, no villians, no sick humor like that which was portrayed in this movie. I give it a thumbs up!
